BEDROCK EDITION:

For Bedrock Edition you'll need to unzip the file, because the old world's 'mcworld' format is not supported in every version, so here is an upgraded version including the newer world format. You'll need to copy the folder to your saves which is located at: "/games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds".

On iOS and Android, it is about the same location, but varies per device and OS version. On some Android devices, including ones using external storage, they might store worlds here: "/Android/com.mojang.minecraftpe/files/games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds".

On Windows 10/11, you can find it at: "AppData/Local/Packages/Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_???????????/LocalState/games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds".

The question marks are numbers and letters that may not match on all computers.

On bedrock edition, you can also automatically open '.mcworld' files by double clicking (or tapping them in your downloads on mobile devices).

JAVA EDITION:

For Java Edition, just open the zip and copy it to "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft" (Windows). Delete excess folders that start with 'MACOS' or files called '.DS_STORE' before opening the world if you find any.

macOS users can find their saves folder at: "~/Library/Application Support/minecraft" using Spotlight or by using the "Go To Folder" function in Finder.

On Linux, you can access your Minecraft saves by finding "~/.minecraft". You should not need to delete any excess files. If there are any named 'MACOS', delete them.
